The Highfield qualifications listed below meet the requirements of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) for food safety in the maritime industry. E-learning alone does not meet the requirements unless followed by an exam in one of the following qualifications:
- Highfield Level 2 Award in Food Safety for Catering (RQF): This qualification is the minimum level required for catering staff and galley workers on ships. It meets the requirements of the MCA's MIN 689 (M) register.
- Highfield Level 3 Award in Food Safety for Catering (RQF): This qualification is for supervising food safety in catering.
- Highfield Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety in Catering (RQF): This qualification is for managing food safety in catering.
How to take the course:
- Level 2 and 3 courses can be completed using Highfield e-learning.
- Candidates for levels 2, 3, and 4 can take an online exam or a paper-based exam (Subject to availability).

- Anyone who works with food, including those who cook, prepare, or handle food
- Ships' cooks and other galley workers
